How do I get started with Pickatale?

This guide will help teachers and students become familiar with the Pickatale app. 


Installing the app


The initial step is to either request IT support to install the app for your school or download the Pickatale app onto your device yourself.

How do I log in? 


After downloading and opening the app, select School.



In the new window that appears, click on the Sign-in button.



Input your username and password supplied by your teacher in the required fields. Teachers login with their email address and password.


Home screen



The Home button brings you to the home page.


The books are divided into the six highlighted areas:


  • Books in Ukrainian
  • Top 10
  • World Mysteries
  • Space
  • Dangerous animals
  • Bookazines


Book titles are also organised into the following categories

  • Adventure
  • Animals
  • Arts & Music
  • Biography
  • Classics
  • Citizenship & Society
  • Fantasy
  • Health & Well-being
  • Friends & Family
  • Countries & Cultures
  • History
  • Holidays & Celebrations
  • Humour
  • Mystery
  • Myths, Legends & Fables
  • Nature & Wildlife
  • Poetry 
  • Scary Stories
  • Science & Technology
  • Science fiction
  • Sports & Hobbies
  • Traditional tales
  • Activity books
  • Climate & Environment
  • First books


Searching for books


Click on the magnifying glass at the bottom.



Choose between:

  • Keyword search
  • Reading level (more than one can be applied)
  • Categories (more than one can be applied)
  • Books with or without quizzes


Start reading!


Select a book.


Choose between "Read now" or "Listen and read

Listen and read - sit back and enjoy the book when the story is read aloud and the pages are turned automatically. 

Read now - read and turn the pages at your own pace. 

There is also detailed information regarding the content and related books.


Reading options


Press the page indicator at the bottom to open the menu.



These are the following options:

  • Close the book
  • Pause / play
  • Large, medium and small text


Student Reports


Click on the middle button at the bottom.



General statistics about time spent reading, how many books were read, quizzes and scores completed.


Access the books you have downloaded that you can use for offline reading.


The ability to delete books you have downloaded to free space on your device.
